Well its the 20th Anniversary of a US Supreme Court decision to allow Sony to sell VCR’s that allow taping of TV show on video cassettes in normal home’s.
On that note here’s a amusing quote from Jack Valenti Former President of the MPAA (Motion Picture Association Of America) on the matter of allowing VCR’s to be used to tape TV shows “I say to you that the VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston strangler is to the woman home alone”.
We all have our ways of blocking adverts when visting websites, Some people 3rd party programs along with there browser, I myself use Mozilla as my browser and it allows blocking images from specific servers. But here’s something that can be added to that and it’ll work in different operating systems and it’ll affect all browsers used on that OS (including Internet Explorer)
So a couple of months back I was up in Houston Station in Dublin and I came across this lovely sight of two Eircom internet phones suffering from a BSOD, all the machines seem to run NT4 SP4 with 64MB/Ram. Luckily I had my digital camera with me so have a look, 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg, 004.jpg & 005.jpg
According to slashdot Win98/98SE is gone the way of the Dodo as of Jan 16th 2004.
Phone support and patches/updates will end on this date but on-line self-help will continue till 2006.
I believe this is a good thing as alot of users, business included continue to use Win98 dispite the fact it happly gives atleast one BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) to users each day…or atleast in my experience anyway
